Stretching serves to…

  1. relieve muscle soreness and stiffness
  2. reduce a chance of injury and stay stationary
  3. improve joint flexibility
  4. improve running performance

How to stretch

  1. stretch after a run when muscles are warm
  2. move into a stretch slowly
  3. hold the stretch for at least 45 seconds
  4. maintain a steady breathing pattern
  5. stretch only to the point mild discomfort

Note: remember to do 2 or 3 different stretches for approximately 5 minutes after every run
